Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice - Review

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice

Plot summary:
It has been eighteen months since the great battle between Superman and General Zod had taken place. Some of humanity see Superman as a hero; a saviour, while some see him as dangerous; as a threat. And in the eyes of Bruce Wayne, Superman is seen as the latter – not only blaming all the death and destruction caused due to it on Superman, but even letting his paranoia run too deep on the fact that Superman could destroy the entire world if he wanted to. And due to this, he is easily manipulated and is led an unavoidable situation – an epic showdown between the Man of Steel and the Bat of Gotham. But little do they know that there are other plans in motion, giving birth to a new villain. A foe formidable even for the likes of Superman.

Review:
Considering acting, Ben Affleck did a great job portraying as Batman. In this movie, Batman is old, and is tired of having to deal with criminals on and off. A Batman who lost many people along the way, and has grown cold in the process. Ben Affleck meets these characteristics and details very well in his acting. Henry Cavill does a great job as well, as he portrays the Superman who has to now face a world where he is portrayed as a symbol of hope by some, and a false god by others.  And also in Superman’s emotional journey on whether or not he should leave his mantle as Superman behind, following a tragic event. Another noteworthy actor is Jesse Eisenberg. His role as the eccentric scientist Lex Luthor in this is very entertaining. Gal Gadot’s role as Wonder Woman in this movie was short, but terrific.

A subject surrounding this movie was that nothing good seems to stay that way – how things or people fall – in the long run. It also revolves around the varying viewpoints  on whether Superman should be accepted as he is, or whether he needs to be controlled – whether an individual with great power should be a figure of controversy or not. It also brings another viewpoint that nothing all-powerful can be all-good – a notion that power corrupts.

The action was amazing. The chase scene was noteworthy, with Batman being more brutal than we had seen on the screen before. The fight scene with Superman, however, I feel like would have been better if it would have been a bit faster-paced. Nevertheless, it was still pretty awesome. The final fight scenes involving the trinity – Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman – were pretty fast-paced. I found the CGI to be brilliant. And the lighting, along with the music made a great combination at times. Especially in the emotional scenes. I especially liked the dramatic music. A job well done by Hans Zimmer. The dialogues were really interesting, especially considering all the idealism and political views brought up. Not to mention all the drama. And even humour that Jesse Eisenberg and Jeremy Irons(Alfred Pennyworth) brought with their roles. The costumes were pretty great, and I loved Batman’s suit of armour. Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is an awesome movie.
