Captain America: Civil War
Plot summary:
The Avengers – led
by Captain America – continue to carry out their missions, now with their
newest additions to team: Scarlet Witch and Vision. And in one of their missions,
events don’t transpire the way they would want to, which leads to an
international incident. Following this, the Secretary of State, Thaddeus Ross,
approaches The Avengers, announcing that their too dangerous to operate on
their own without any supervision. And as a solution for it, he presents the Sokovia Accords which gives the United
Nations full power over The Avengers. The Accords draws a rift between The
Avengers as they decide whether or not to sign it. This being based on two
viewpoints – one, being that oversight is not an idea that is dismissible, and
the other being that they would be giving up their freedom of choice. But
amidst all this action, unbeknownst to them is a mysterious villain driven by
vengeance – a puppet master manipulating The Avengers into situations they
could not predict.
Review:
Another job well-done by the Russo Brothers and the rest of
the cast and crew. We see Falcon and Black Widow re-appearing in this sequel,
and we also see much more big characters appearing as well. And of course, the
much-anticipated introduction to Black
Panther and Spider-Man was
terrific, and it no doubt broke the internet. Both of their costumes were
spectacular and made possible not only with material, but with CGI as well. Props
go to them, and even Vision, who had to endure their full-body suits throughout
all that film-time.
And now, we come to the emotional side of this story. The
movie focuses a lot on feelings such as guilt, regret, and fear. Regret and
guilt for all the innocent civilians who had been collateral damage during all
their battles, and fear of what they are capable of doing. And it shows how
these feelings effect the judgement of certain members of The Avengers whilst
they discuss about the Accords. Another repetitive feeling brought up in this
movie is vengeance, which affects some of the Avengers as events unfold. We see
The Avengers – this team – fracture whilst fighting for what they believe is
right. Black Widow is shown to be uncertain – torn between following what she
thinks is right and what she thinks is safe and necessary.
The plot was fantastic and very interesting. The dialogues were
well-written. It really brought out the seriousness of situations and helped
amplify the emotions displayed by the characters. And even the humour was great
– for which Ant-Man and Spider-Man contributed well. The stunts and the special
effects were notably amazing – they were all well-done. And of course the
action sequences were just brilliant. We get to see extra footwork, especially considering
Black Panther. All fast-paced and well-choreographed – just like the previous
movie – or even better. Civil War is another amazing movie in the Captain
America movie series. It’s a definite must-watch.
