Captain America: The Winter Soldier - Review

Captain America: The Winter Soldier

Plot summary:
Following a series of events, one of Captain America’s associates from SHIELD is attacked by a mysterious enemy, who Cap later discovers to be known as the Winter Soldier, through Black Widow. With the help of Black Widow, Cap uncovers secrets behind the attack, and in doing so, they find themselves in the middle of a massive conspiracy fueled by a familiar enemy. With the aid of agent Maria Hill and their newest colleague, Falcon, Cap sets out to bring this conspiracy to light. And on his path to doing so, Cap learns the identity of this Winter Soldier, who turns out to be someone from his past.

Review:
The Russo brothers – Joe and Anthony Russo – have picked up where director Joe Johnston had left off and taken Captain America to a whole new level. We see a whole new Cap in this stunning sequel. Not to mention the powerful, fast-paced, and well-choreographed action sequences – the fight scene in the beginning of the movie during Cap’s mission, and the fight scenes between Cap and the Winter Soldier, especially stand out. And the added acrobatics and the amazing stunts make the movie even much more enthralling. We see Cap doing much more stunts which are all tremendous. Also, the music in this movie is exceptional. I personally find it to hold the suspense; the tension; well.

In this movie, Captain America is shown to be still adjusting to the present time, especially when he is greeted with the moral complexities of this period. And because of this, he is driven to question himself on whether he could still put himself out there and perform his duties, as he did before – all this fueling an emotional and moral dilemma within. The movie also focuses on the relationship Captain America forms with a newly introduced character – Falcon, as well as his relationship with Black Widow. A main subject revolving around this movie is also trust, based on all the events that transpire within it which challenges the trust between colleagues. We see Cap and Widow form a bond somewhat similar to that between siblings as the movie progresses – this also, as they learn to trust each other more. Another noteworthy aspect of this movie is its deeper political discussions.

The new costume which is revealed in the beginning of the movie is much better than the previous costume, in my opinion. And the Winter Soldier’s metal arm and Falcon’s metal wings, both, looked exceptional. The plot is amazing, and the dialogues have a strong impact, both, emotionally and idealistically. The visual effects were brilliantly done. I personally loved it all. To sum it up, this is an epic must-watch movie.
