Review:
There are some interesting
characters involved in this series. The main two characters – Max Black, played
by Kat Dennings and Caroline Channing, played by Beth Berhs – especially are
interesting and funny with their own particular character traits. Max is shown
to be sarcastic, witty, and prone to masking her emotions – not the type who’s
used to or comfortable with expressing them. She also can be pessimistic, insensitive
or bitter, and has a fear of success. Coming to Caroline, she’s quite the
opposite. Always looking for the bright side and being enthusiastic about the
future and more pleasant to people than Max. Plus she’s spoiled, considering
the fact that she has had a pretty easy life. The series really does a good job
in bringing these two very different characters together and creating an
interesting comedic story. Considering some other recurring characters, there’s
Han Lee(Matthew Moy); the diner’s owner, Oleg(Jonathan Kite); the cook, Earl(Garrett
Morris), the cashier, and Sophie Kachinsky(Jenifer Coolidge); Max’s and
Caroline’s neighbour, who are all weird and funny in their own way.
The acting is no doubt brilliant.
Kat Dennings and Beth Berhs, both, do a great a job in bringing to life these
two characters. The struggles the two have to go through, the stupid
adventures, the arguments, are all interesting and hilarious to watch. And they
get even more interesting and funny as the series progresses. We get to see Max
and Caroline having to deal with their own issues and each other’s issues while
having to face their common problem: money. The dialogues are really good, and
are pretty successful in bringing out some good laughs. And the humour can be
pretty saucy at times – well, at a lot of times. This is definitely a comedy
series to watch.
Very funny and as said in the review saucy.
