The Big Bang Theory
Plot summary:
Dr. Sheldon Cooper and Dr.
Leonard Hofstadter of The California Institute of Technology are two brilliant
minds that could find solutions many physics problems that come their way, but

Penny – their new apartment neighbour who moves across the hall from them, and
whom Leonard grows an interest for.
Review:
There are some really interesting
characters introduced into this series – all quirky, weird, and tremendously
hilarious in their own way. You have Dr Sheldon Cooper(Jim Parsons), the
theoretical physicist with an eidetic memory who’s really picky about every
single detail and choice he has to make on a daily basis and makes it a living
hell for everyone who he encounters or surrounds himself with. You have Dr. Leonard
Hofstadter(Johnny Galecki), the experimental physicist who struggles to form a
relationship with Penny, often leading to awkward and funny scenarios. There’s
Penny(Kaley Cuoco), who’s the aspiring actress who has moved to California from
Nebraska. Then there’s Dr. Rajesh Koothrapalli(Kunnal Nayyar), who’s the
astrophysicist suffering from selective mutism and is unable to talk to women
without being drunk, and the overly flirtatious engineer, Howard Wolowitz(Simon
Helberg). And of course, as the series progresses, more invaluable characters such
as Amy Fowler(Mayim Bialik) and Bernadette Rostenkowski(Melissa Rauch) are added,
which definitely escalates this series’ hilarity and ergo, elevates your
interest in it.
The acting is superb. There’s a
really strong cast, and all their performances are impeccable. Jim Parsons no
doubt nails his role as Dr. Sheldon Cooper – and all the awards he got for this
role definitely is proof of it. He really presents how, both, ingenius and
infuriating Sheldon can be at times – or more like all the time. And Johnny
Galecki, Simon Helberg, and Kunnal Nayyar, are all fun to watch as they
struggle with their individual issues whilst dealing with their common problem:
Sheldon. Coming to The Big Bang of
the story itself, which is Penny – I say so because it’s meeting her that leads
to a lot of the other events that transpire in the series – Kaley Cuoco really
fits into the role and brings the whole “dumb blonde” stereotype to life. All
of them together, make a great gang, and they definitely do a great job, and
are all, interesting and fun to watch.
The costumes nicely fit-in with
their characters, bringing out the geeky or nerdy traits. Raj, with his
unneeded extra layers, Sheldon with his usually pop culture t-shirts, Leonard with
his usual t-shirt-and-hoodie, and Howard with his colourful, and at times,
overly colourful combinations of shirts and turtlenecks. The dialogues are just
brilliant. The mixing scientific elements along with comedic elements and pop
culture is just spectacular. And the new conundrums these characters are met
with in each episode are cleverly planned and illustrated. This series never
fails to make you laugh. It’s one of the best comedy series that I’ve ever
seen. You will not be disappointed in trying this out.
